What?
Vector Pipeline is a new 348-mile, 42-inch pipeline project, in
the U.S. and Canada, that transports natural gas from the Chicago
area to parts of Indiana and Michigan, and into Ontario, Canada.
Why?
The pipeline is a key link in the supply and transportation of economical natural gas from the United States and western Canada to growing markets in the U.S. midwest, eastern Canada and the northeastern U.S.
The pipeline transports gas to distributors who in turn serve the needs of homeowners, schools, businesses and others by providing gas for manufacturing, heating and cooking.
When?
Vector Pipeline filed applications with the U.S. Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission and the Canadian National Energy Board in
late 1997.
Construction of the pipeline took place during 2000 and Vector
began operations December 1, 2000. As work was completed on each
property, restoration work was initiated and in some cases extended
to the spring of 2001, and will continue until permit and landowner
requirements are satisfied.
Who?
Vector Pipeline is owned by a joint venture including Enbridge
Inc., Westcoast Energy Inc. and DTE Energy Company of Detroit,
Michigan. Enbridge, Inc. is the operator of the pipeline.
Together this group represents more than 150 years of experience in the pipeline industry.
