Why Pipelines

Pipelines play a role in our everyday lives and are essential to our quality of life and economy. Pipelines move the products necessary for transportation, heating and cooling our homes, producing our food supply and manufacturing consumer products.

In the United States alone, more than two million miles of pipelines deliver petroleum products and natural gas. Pipelines are the safest, most efficient and most reliable way to transport energy resources.

Vector Pipeline is a 348-mile, 42-inch natural gas transmission pipeline, which transports approximately 1.3 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas from Joliet, Illinois, in the Chicago area to parts of Indiana and Michigan and into Ontario, Canada.
