Vector 2028 Westbound Expansion Project
Vector Pipeline L.P. is proposing the Vector 2028 Westbound Expansion Project (“Project”) to meet rising demand for affordable, reliable, and domestically produced natural gas and enhance Midwest energy reliability.
Vector Pipeline L.P. operates a 333-mile natural gas pipeline from Joliet, Illinois, through Indiana and Michigan to Ontario, Canada, ending at the Dawn gas hub. Jointly owned by Enbridge Inc. (60%) and DT Midstream (40%), the pipeline supplies U.S. natural gas to utilities, industries, power plants, and storage sites in the Midwest and Ontario. Its bidirectional flow and major pipeline connections support reliable, flexible energy delivery.
The proposed project involves approximately 5.5 miles of pipeline looping and upgrading compression at our existing Athens Compressor Station in Calhoun County, Michigan, and the construction of a new compressor station in Oakland County, Michigan.
Most of the work will take place at existing facilities and along established pipeline corridors to minimize construction impacts. The project will increase westbound natural gas capacity by about 400,000 dekatherms per day. We are committed to open communication with our neighbors and following all applicable regulations.
